Identity

We come to know an author by the things that they have written. We've designed our Federation such that every site is the work of one individual even when that work is a small as choosing some page offered to be shared on another site. Still, one author makes these and other choices for each site.

We know an author is who they claim to be because they either know something or have something or maybe both. If that something is a password, and that password is forgotten, then some password recovery process must be followed. These can be as complex as wiki itself so we depend in identity providers for these mechanisms.

We recommend Google's OAuth identity provided as one of their developer services. Other options are available including Twitter, Github and even Friends where you, the server operator, has the channel and the patience to use it serving careless authors.
